The stories in And Also Sharks are consistently snort-embarrassingly-on-the-bus funny while never abandoning strong, relatable characters and intriguing storylines. These stories are funny because they exist in our banal, fake maple candy world–Westhead just sees it a little more gently and honestly than most of us. From an epic blog comment to the tale of a woman who kidnaps a baby (that one is my favourite), the stories in And Also Sharks range far and wide, while seeming to happen right next store. The world looks a little more interesting when you finish this book.
