This is a strong onion of a book. In 1946 Stalin tasks a group of science fiction writers with inventing an alien threat to unite the people. Then he orders them to forget it. Forty years later, one writer is approached by another and told that everything they wrote is coming true. Now imagine this story told through the eyes of an old, Russian, SF author. This is a fantastic story about fantastic stories. I bought it for the cover but loved the story.
